Telekom Local Support - Spot Support

It has been five years now since Millhaus started realizing the Local Support project for Telekom and with 2011 being the 6th year it is now time for a little change. The goal of the project has always been to improve the infrastructure of the BMX-, MTB-, Skateboard- and Wakeboard-scenes in Germany. To reach that, Millhaus organized contests over the last few years, the Local Support Challenges, where financial support for the winners’ home spot was given away. After five years and more than 100.000 € Spot Support it was time for a change as all spots have already won which would carry on winning in the future. Now it’s time to help those who haven’t been able to achieve such a high riding level due to bad training conditions so that they now have a chance too to reach some of the top positions at challenges in 2011.

To do that, Millhaus created the Spot Support competition via the Telekom Local Support facebook page. In a specifically programmed app, spots and organizations have the opportunity to submit their ideas, building plans and wishes and are then asked to promote their projects and gain supporters. The viral effect of the competition already caused a remarkable raise in followers. A jury consisting of German pro athletes such as BMX rider Björn Mager, Mountainbike rider Marius Hoppensack or Skateboarder Mack McKelton decide on the awarding of the overall 4 x 4.000 € as well as many other prices.

Snow rookie project for the relaunch of the legendary Arnette goggle

After the successful European relaunch of glasses company Arnette last year, this year will be dedicated to its legendary snow goggle.
For the relaunch Millhaus created the concept „ALL EYES ON ME!“, a project to address the snowboard scene, and takes care of the relevant execution.
Snowboard rookies from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Norway are asked to send in action footage and a short rider biography of themselves to win a place in the Arnette rookie team. Besides product support for season 11/12 the young guns await a 10 day trip with the Arnette pros.
Communication and voting platform is - after the successful realization by Millhaus of the „IN YOUR FACE!“ project in 2010 - again the social community facebook where the project will be hosted on. Besides that, Millhaus is responsible for the European wide special interest PR for Arnette.
On the newly launched facebook app you can already watch the official „ALL EYES ON ME“ rookie project trailer.

Opening of the PipeAid halfpipe at Nebelhorn

What is one of the basic features in any ski resort in the USA is now finally also available in Germany - at least once: a halfpipe fit for any contest. After only 3 months time for planning and realization, Germany’s only superpipe opened on the 1st of March. Millhaus CEO Alex Schwan and Dirk Lösch initiated the Facebook-Community PipeAid and, together with Red Bull and the Nebelhornbahn-AG, know-how, passion and the necessary funds were thrown together to get something started that seemed to be impossible all the years before: a superpipe in Germany with contest measurements. The 90m long, 17m wide and 5m high halfpipe is also the only training facility for an Olympic discipline that has been financed solely by sponsors and not public funds.
After the opening by snowboard Olympic medalist Nicola Thost the official German Snowboard Championships take place on March 26th, 2011. Millhaus is responsible for the organization of the event together with NBH Events and LoeschHundLiepold.

Furthermore HIGH FIVE e.V is there, the by Millhaus employees initiated non-profit organization.
„Shredivate - get new people on board“ is a unique project by the ISPO Shop Summit dedicated to a special subject: get people excited about board sports. This is exactly what the non-profit organization HIGH FIVE aims for with its free workshops and that’s why we, the proud winners of the Shredivate-Award, are able to present our cause at a booth at the ISPO!
HIGH FIVE is looking forward to anyone interested visiting us in hall A1/319. Partner, media, spokespeople, athletes and friends, everyone is welcome to come by for a snack or drink.

HIGH FIVE by Millhaus

Born from our own passion for snowboarding, skateboarding and BMX and based on the conviction that sport isn’t just sport but also conveys important emotional and integrative skills the Millhaus CEOs and employees have founded the non-profit organization HIGH FIVE e.V.. Through free skateboard-, BMX- and snowboard workshops we would like to show children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds that sport can change one’s life in a positive way. With experienced staff and famous athletes HIGH FIVE does not only offer material and any help needed but initiates - with regular training hours – an approach to structure a hobby efficiently.
The first steps were made already last summer. Many skateboard workshops were conducted in cooperation with youth centers in Munich. Now we‘re starting the second round. From December 16th 17th, 2010 the former shopping center Puerto Giesing in Munich will see the official start of the project. Over two days kids from youth centers will be shown the basics of skateboarding in various workshops.
All news and info regarding the organization, projects and spokespeople on the brand new website www.wearehighfive.com or on the HIGH FIVE facebook page.

Everyday Masterpieces III

For the launch of the FIAT 500 special edition model BLACKJACK with matt black finish the Italian automobile manufacturer presented the broadsheet magazine „Everyday Masterpieces“ for a third time. The design of the new FIAT 500 was inspired by urban lifestyle. That’s why it is natural for the brand to support contemporary art and artists who draw their input from urban lifestyle as well. Millhaus created and realized the new issue together with Christian Hundertmark one of Germany’s „old-school“ street artists. Hundertmark introduced his personal „Everyday Masterpieces“ from his newly released book „Art of Rebellion III“ which is dedicated to the topic of street art.
The official „Art of Rebellion III“ and „Everyday Masterpieces“-release party will take place at the Helmet Gallery on 10th of December 2010. Come by, it’s definitely worth it!

Air & Style in Beijing, a success - let’s carry on!

What an event! The perfect kicker, the best riders in the world and tons of thrilled spectators made the Air & Style in Beijing into a spectacular event. Sebastien Toutant claimed the much desired Ring of Glory with a Cab 1260 Double Cork and therewith ended the Air & Style with style!
Unfortunately the crowd in Beijing didn’t quite get the presentation by Millhaus CEO Alex Schwan. If it was the spectators’ bad English skills or the quotes by Bavarian Fred Fesl Gstanzln wasn’t quite clear.
But it won’t be long till he can show off his presentation skills again cause this hasn’t been it: the Big Air Contest will go triple. After the contest at the Bergisel Stadium in Innsbruck on the 5th of February has long been confirmed, there will now be a second Air & Style edition only one week later in Munich. After three years there is finally a relaunch at the Olympic Stadium.
Millhaus will once again take on the rider’s management for both contests.

Arnette Europe: successful IN YOUR FACE Video Contest done

The IN YOUR FACE Video Contest, conceptualized and realized by Millhaus in 2010 for the European revival of Arnette ended successfully. After great premiere parties at the favorite clubs of the crews and an exciting online voting phase the winners of the surf and skateboard division have been determined. For the optimum activation of the scenes Millhaus conducted the voting on the Arnette Europe facebook page. The crews themselves were encouraged to promote their videos. Over 9.000 „Likes“ for the videos and a raise of the community of over 900 % speak for the viral system of the voting. The video of the SUICHI Crew from Barcelona was voted best skateboard video after a head to head race between them and the Italian ZUCKA Crew. The surf voting was as exciting but it was the Holmstroem Crew from Kiel who held the German surf-flag up high in the end and won IN YOUR FACE. Both crews win a 10 day all-inclusive trip to California. Impressions from the Sunshine State will then be published on the facebook page.

Telekom Local Support Saison ended successfully!

With the skateboard challenge in the beginning of November the season ended for Telekom Local Support. More than 120 skateboarders came to the Playground Skatehalle Aurich and didn‘t only fight for points at the C.O.S. Cup, the German Championship Series, but also for financial aid for their homespot. The skateparks in Karlsruhe, Osnabrück and Plauen had the best locals and can now think about how to use their Spot Support.
We at Millhaus are also thinking about it: the authentic and - in the scene well established- project Telekom Local Support will enter its 6th year in 2011! We already started planning and, with some changes, will keep improving it.
