In spite of the tropical temperatures the 50 riders of the T-Mobile Local Support Miniramp Challenge on August 15th in Darmstadt showed amazing tricks in front of the crowd. The athletes found an ideal Miniramp setup with spine and subbox at the freshly renovated BMX park at the old town wall and made use of it with impressive team performances.
In Pro class team Zoo WG with Sergej Geier and Markus Braumann convinced the judges and took the spot support worth € 4.000 back home. Showing tons of 360 variations, lip tricks on the subbox and a perfect synchronously team run they stood up to Felix Kirch and Kevin Liehn from Team Optimus Prime featuring Chuck Norris, who showed really huge flairs, countless tailwhip tricks and even a bike flip.
The audience was screaming loud and gave standing ovations.
Team Go Trabi Go with Rene Börner and Robin Zeugner won the Amateur class, team Benscrime with Jannis Ickenroth and David Hennes came in second. The young guns from Eisenach showed a trick firework with 540s, no foot cancans and a Ninja Drop from the subbox.
Rene Börner (21) is glad twice: Besides the victory in the team score he also won the T-Mobile Wildcard for the Summer Session of the T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds August 30th, 2009 in Pinneberg near Hamburg. He will join the 3 best pro riders of the T-Mobile Local Support Miniramp Challenge, Berlin guys Kevin Liehn and Björn „Bommel“ Mager as well as Ondra Slez from Czech Republic, and compete against BMX superstars like Rob Darden and Dennis Enarson at the world class event in a few days.
